Brown Civil Engineering (BCE) was retained to provide all civil engineering services for this 60-unit affordable senior housing building on 2 acres in northeast Longmont. A 62-stall parking lot and utility services were included, along with storm water quality facility design. Upon BCE’s recommendation, a rain garden was chosen as the Best Management Practice (BMP) of choice for the stormwater quality facility. BCE worked closely with the landscape architect to incorporate grading and drainage designs to complement the site amenities such as play courts and walking paths for the senior residents, as well as a play area for visiting children and grandchildren. City of Longmont review process included approval through the Development Review Committee for architectural and site design, Public Works for drainage and utility design, and State of Colorado for the Stormwater Management Permit.
